OK if you work for the PCT/Commsioner are you really going to takae away the GP's annual holiday funds by commissioning out side of their surgery? I don't think so.
Why are the targets for GPs flu vaccination season so low?. If I had a list of all my customers and direct personal access to them would I only achieve 70% no way it would be in the high 90's
This year no flu vaccine for under 5's those horrible commercial people had stolen them to make money from people who don't need it, as one caring professional put it, not realising the amount they earn form it.

What happened to any willing provider?
But there again do I need (as a commissioner) to steal the holiday funds from the GP's family, and face the consequences down the line? Your very brave if you do

NHS Sheffield commissioned a community pharmacist service last winter - targeting 18-65 year olds in the at-risk groups.
The service was very successful - the evaluation shows that as well as being highly rated by patients the service was able to reach at-risk people - who had NEVER been vaccinated before!
Plans are now being formulated for next winter - and pharmacy commissioning will again be an important component..
