Fin gives a good account of the current views of community pharmacy contractors and it is people like him that will move this sector forward successfully. His insight into the independent pharmacy and leadership needs to taken on board by the movers and shakers at the RPS, PSNC, NPA and others to get a road map for the profession going forward in the future.

There is a degree of certainty inthat we know that several hundred more 100 hour contract will open and several hundred will fail, many borderline independents will also fail, and the flawed Category M mechanism will remain in place.
Until the multiples fully support organisations such a Pharmacy Voice this situation will continue.
The only constructive answer is a co-ordinated denouncement of the current contract as 'not fit for purpose' and a replacement incorporating guaranteed profit margins, nationally structured enhanced service schemes, and a sound methodology for annual uplift based primarily on the variable costs associated with increased prescription volume and any increased regulatory compliance.
