This is great news! But is this the right time to be negotiating a new contract when the NHS is looking to save money at all angles? will pharmacy shoot itself in the foot again?

This review has taken forever and a day to come about and as such if we held on and decided to not negotiate it would probably be considered out of date. My opinion is yes the government will try its damnedest to reduce pharmacy funding but then aren't they already doing that anyway.

This should give pharmacy the proof to show the current contract is not remunerating pharmacies with a fair return for its work and thus "I hope" call a reversal to the current 5% annual raid to pharmacies prescription payments, which is totally unsustainable. I'm not asking for the PSNC to negotiate a miracle here in today financial climate but when we were asked to vote on this contract so many years ago we were promised a "fair" package and we were given was a promise of an annual ram raid on pharmacy funding!!

Sue Sharpe needs to own a pharmacy to understand how she has single handedly scuppered funding negotiations.

Many of us have put up every personal asset as security against our pharmacies. We see, day to day, how in real terms we are under funded. We are subsidising the NHS pharmacy services. All we want is to be funded fairly. I dont care about the current economic environment: does Sue expect us to be a charity!! No other discipline practising in the NHS accepts unfair funding, so why should we.

Sue, wake up and get real. We are living in the real world. We need proper funding...funding that is fair!!! Step up to the plate and stop being the whipping boys for the DOH.
