"People feel there's one type of GP, and that they want to make as much money as possible" "I find the main driver is that they see it as a benefit for their patients" what a lot of rot are we really so naive? Money makes the world go round and I don't believe that any doctor feels such philantropy it is purely and simply opportunism to make some more money

I operate a pharmacy within a doctors surgery and pay considerable rent to that surgery. The surgery has applied and been granted a 100 hour pharmacy contract! The average partner in a gp practice wants to work as little as possible and earn as much as possible by whatever means! The society, lpc and government are inept and powerless! It is about time that we made some serious noise to publicise these issues, where are leaders when we need them?

I think its high time the GP contract is opened to any willing provider let's see how they (the GPs) will like it when pharmacies start opening GP/Nurse led surgeries in their pharmacies.
In house GP Pharmacies are nothing more than prescription factories with little or no OTC trade and very long waiting times-After all why should you buy a product when you are already at the surgery and can see the doctor- the whole essence of promoting self care and freeing up GPs time is defeated by this model

I find locuming in a pharmacy next door to a surgery, or just across the road quite sufficient, thank you. I get on pretty well with everyone over there, and we're constantly popping over to see each other about various queries and the like.
