Without wanting to be seen wading into an ammunitions dump, with a petrol can in one hand and a lit match in the other by leaving a comment. I think Ash was not referring to ALL LPCs - there are some real ostrich-like LPCs while on the other end of the scale you got brilliant things going on like in NEL LPC, Norfolk & Doncaster. Unfortunately standards vary greatly between LPCs and the real question is are contractors happy with their LPCs or even PCTs - the fact there is no feedback or third party to talk to means both organisations, if the wrong-minded people are on them, can be arrogant, avant garde, useless and nothing more than closed shops because they can get away with it.
I think if all LPCs were like those quoted in the article then Ash's concerns are void and LPCs like those above should be used as a bar for other LPCs to aspire to.

Let's face it - 80% of LPCs are run by FAT CATS who look after their own interests. They are not well attended by contractors because they see them as ineffective. There needs to be shift in the way they are managed. Mr Soni is absolutely right - they have never been fit for purpose.

Completely agree with Mr Dajani!!

The fact is that there is no real transparency in LPC structures. Like any modern organisations, LPC's should be subject to standard forms of corporate governance and this includes peer audits/reviews. As contracts, we fund these bodies, and thus we need to know that they are WORKING EFFECTIVELY for US.

When was the last time your LPC representative called into your premises. When was the last time your LPC sent you a report highlighting the achievements they had secured on your behalf. When was the last time you were sent a financial summary of the LPC including expense bill etcs?

"If you spent a day with us you would see how innovative and responsive we are," said Hemant Patel, secretary for North-East London LPC. "I think, quite frankly, [Ash Soni] is talking rubbish."

No Mr Hemant "LPC Defender" Patel, you will find comments like this sum you up as arrogant. Dont misjudge the mood of the profession. The quicker organisations Like LPC's are REFORMED (Not disbanded) and rid of arrogant ego-seekers at the helm, then better for contractors.
