More than 500 guests joined C+D and the 75 shortlisted entries at the ceremony, held in association with the NPA at London's exclusive Hurlingham Club.

Dennis Pay won the C+D Pharmacy Business Leader of the Year 2011 award for his commitment to patients and staff. Over the past year, Mr Pay launched new branches, weight management services and anti-coagulation clinics, as well as ensuring patients received flu antivirals during the adverse weather conditions.

Judges were impressed by Mr Pay's dedication and overall vision for pharmacy.
The C+D Community Pharmacist of the Year 2011 title went to Sudhir Sehrawat, who won judges over with his persistent approach to integrating primary and
secondary care.

Mr Sehrawat looked outside the NHS contract to provide innovative services such as developing prescribing policies and implementing a comprehensive medicines management service within a private hospital.

And Sulapha Manaim picked up the award for Pre-Registration Graduate of the Year, after implementing an MUR directive across the 95 pharmacies in her company. Judges commended Ms Manaim's approach, which they said demonstrated her passion for putting patients' interests first.

The awards were testament to the high standards in community pharmacy, said C+D editor Gary Paragpuri. "This year the competition was the toughest yet, with an extremely high calibre of entries," he added, "so I'd like to congratulate all of those shortlisted including, of course, our worthy winners."
