Practice Pharmacies should move away from high streets and increase their presence in GP surgeries, GP and Bracknell MP Phillip Lee has said. Mr Lee said he...

Perhaps less avaricious rents, demands for large amounts of key money or a share of profits would see more co-located premises. Ultimately, I'd like to see more pharmacies in health centres, but not necessarily run by the operator with the deepest pockets!

Can I can just say in a nut shell and in the words of a GP "DR Phillip Lee" "Pharmacy Funding Should be Cut and Instead Used For GP Dispensing"

And the Government tell's us that by giving the purse strings to GPs that they will behave fairly and ethically in that that they won't try and shift money into their own pockets?? Am I allowed to say profit mongering?? tut tut.

Why is it the inevitable consequence of these changes are so hard to see even though there they are simmering just beneath the surface and yet in plane sight.

Thank you to Jonathan Mason though for his comments back to Dr Lee.

can someone ask Mr Philip Lee MP to spend a week in an independent pharmacy along a high st,work those long hours and experience the quality care and services we provide.those comments from him are utterly rubbish and unacceptable.its about MR Lee realise that pharmacies,GPs,and Hospital staff all work together-its called TEAMWORK,IN CASE HE HAS FORGOTTEN.

I can see the benefits of working within one structure, but with the upcoming EPS Version 2 implementation it also seems kinda pointless as well. Why not have both internal and external?

It does all depend on the location however. Some areas need that internal infrastructure due to geographical location while others do not. Carpet sweeping everything is never the answer.

Only an MP could show such ignorance of the needs and desires of patients! Here's a revolutionary idea - why not get GPs to run some surgery appointments from the Community Pharmacy on the high street, at times which are convenient to patients? This could include evenings and weekends, then a small fortune could be saved by doing away with Darzi Centres, Walk-in centres and Out Of Hours GP units. If only someone had had the brains to tell NuLab when they started squandering money on these ideas, the country would be better off financially following this model and we might be moving to a patient-centred set of joined up services, not services run at the convenience of the service providers. The Walk-in Centres have always been there - we call them High Street Pharmacies!
