Paper talk: Pharmacist crucifix murderer jailed; light cafés good for SAD

Irish pharmacist Karen Walsh has been jailed for a minimum of 21 years after being found guilty of beating her 81-year-old next door neighbour to death with a crucifix, the Irish Times reports. The Guardian also covers this story.

According to the Telegraph, light cafés are the best treatment for Seasonal Affective Disorder.

Women are to gain the right to planned caesareans on the NHS, the Independent writes. This story is also covered by the Telegraph.


The Guardian writes that while fatal heart attacks, strokes and cancers are down, Alzheimer's deaths are up 11 per cent, and women are bearing the brunt.

The Telegraph also writes that men are almost 50 per cent more likely than women to put their health at risk by drinking too much.

And the Independent reports that drinkers who regularly exceed government alcohol limits without getting drunk are increasing their risk of developing cancer, liver disease and mental health issues.
