Paper talk: GP boundaries relaxed; nitroglycerin angina treatment damages heart

The Telegraph writes that million of patients will be able to remain registered with their GP even if they move house.

As reported by C+D's sister magazine Pulse, the relaxation of GP boundaries is one of many changes under the new GP contract, which also includes GP pay being linked to A&E attendance.

US scientists have found that angina treatment using nitroglycerin to widen blood vessels could damage the heart, the Telegraph reports.

The Mail writes that cancer is the cause of 40 per cent of all premature adult deaths.

The Telegraph covers a Lancet report saying that radiotherapy could halve prostate cancer deaths and should be "urgently" added to the standard treatment for men with the disease.

The Guardian reports that surgery could save 1,500 lung cancer patients a year, but sufferers are not being offered operations because too few surgeons are skilled at performing them.

A surgeon who carried out a series of botched operations that killed or seriously injured patients has resumed working at an NHS hospital, the Telegraph writes.

The Telegraph examines what the four nations eat and suggests that the Welsh and Scottish eat like the English. The Independent and Mail also cover this story.

A leading think tank has warned that Monitor could be open to political interference, the Telegraph writes. The Guardian also covers this story.

And the Mail writes that the potential for bird and human flu to combine and form a new virus is "one of the biggest biological threats of our time".
