It would be interesting to see what Kirit’s strategy is and how he expands? Would it make operational sense to have his branches scatter here there and everywhere?

We have not heard much about the pharmacist and Day Lewis 50:50 scheme or was this just a PR stunt for the pharmacy show so that we can all have the key to Day Lewis?? (Those of you who went to the pharmacy show should know exactly what I am on about ;-P) It would be interesting to see if any of his ambitious ideas come to fruit, or if it is all just ‘HOT AIR’

Kirit, all the best.

Hope you succed in the plans. But, in one article you have made many comments, that contradict each other (in my opinion).

1. 186 X 2 (double) is 372. "acquire pharmacies to take the business from 186 to 200 branches by the end of 2012." that means, you are trying to buy out 14 pharmacies/ open 14 new (I think this would be 100hr) in ONE year.

2. Then, you want to "take another 50 pharmacies into Day Lewis ownership", so another 50 existing pharmacies (going out of businesss)

3. The most confused statement " and to open 150 as joint ventures through the group's partnership scheme, launched in October".

The mathematical equation does not seem logical, but a business gimmic.

Now the question is, HOW?

All the best

Baffles me why the chain does not increase it's margins with own label OTC ? This would boost companies margins organically without the strain on management that aquisition & expansion brings !

I don't mind the editing.

Hope Day Lewis does not become DL- C+D ;) Lot of investment I see he has done in C+D. Where are we leading ?? from a impartial journalism to paid journalism ???

Hope we will see a good honest journalism one day.

Hi D S

Any editing we do is simply to ensure that the posts remain within the law, particularly libel law. This is to protect both the author and C+D.

C+D 's intention is not to stifle debate. Readers are free to comment on stories, use the forums, and to express their opinions - we simply ask that people do so in a professional and responsible manner.

I'd also like to add that our journalism is always independent. We certainly don't pander to any organisation - it would not benefit us or our audience.

I hope that helps to explain some of the issues you raised above. The increasing number of comments on the C+D site is great to see and for many pharmacists it is a valuable way to talk to their peers and exchange ideas and support, and I look forward to your continuing contribution.
