Community pharmacy needs a ‘glass half full’ attitude, says PharmaPlus
Community pharmacists need to take a more optimistic view of the changes being made in the NHS, PharmaPlus managing director Hiten Patel has urged.
Having a "glass half full" attitude towards change would help ensure the profession was involved in transforming the health service, said Mr Patel.
Speaking at the organisation's annual dinner this month, Mr Patel told pharmacists they must not resist the "tidal wave of change" that has hit the NHS.
"Human beings as a species do not take well to change – we all find it difficult and frightening. That is why it is all the more important to participate in the change so that we as a profession can be part of the overall solution," he said.
Mr Patel also repeated calls for pharmacists to have "a seat at the table" of bodies like the new health and wellbeing boards. "In this way they can influence how best the profession can help the health of the nation," he said.
