Irrespective of whether a multiple or independent, every pharmacy should meet some premises standards. Whilst the GPhC should take the approach of administering advice and guidance, stipulating a plan of action and time frame for correction before any reprimand or penalty is issued (in whichever shape or form that may be). However I am a firm believer that all premises should have disabled access (not a bell and wait outside system for wheelchair users). Also pharmacies which operate long hours should not be able to employ bell and hatch systems forcing patients to wait outside the premises whilst their prescription is dispensed. If you are contracted to provide services for a number of hours the whole premises and associated facilities (access to retail areas and consultation rooms) should be available and accessible for the whole duration.
