How often do Pharmacists get asked to do a pilot for PCTs and then get told sorry insufficient funding?

If fairly funded pharmacy is the BEST place to provide health checks. Without more information it is not possible to determine why pharmacy costs of 55K for 300 checks (£183 per check!!) didn't get a higher response rate. If I were paid £183 per check I'm sure I'd be doing them.
Trouble is we don't have a level playing field with health checks. Typical NHS tendering prices offered are £15 per test plus the cost of the test. It's a 25 minute process - and this fee isn't attractive to contractors.
Patients would love to come to pharmacies and we would be able to capture hard to reach groups.
How did a PCT spend £55K with a pharmacy scheme and only get 300 tests? Did they buy 25 pharmacies testing equipment at £2,000 each then have only 12 tests per site at £16 a time? If that is the case I suggest they find a new buyer for that equipment and re-coup some of their losses. No wonder the PCT Executive wants to remain anonymous.
This is a great service from pharmacies if organised properly. Doesn't sound like that to me in this case. Perhaps one of your team could dig a little deeper?
