This could certainly be a major problem for pharmacists employed in the independent sector (where each pharmacy is run as a separate limited company with most likely less than 10 employees).

“Sorry, you will have to go as I can find someone who will do your job for £xxxx less”

Could you keep us up to date on the development of these proposals C&D?

Should have added that some multiples also run each branch as a separate corporate entity and thus could qualify as "small business".

Had heard of this proposal at the time of the budget, could you clarify if this still needs to be put before parliament . I had also heard there was a time limit so one could only be dismissed in the first two years of employment .

Hi Mohammed,

From April 6 2012, a two year qualifying period has been introduced for bringing unfair dismissal claims. The qualifying period was previously one year. This change will only affect those employees whose employment has commenced on or after April 6.

The no fault dismissal proposals are still only proposals at this stage.
