Teva launch takes it into the generic OTC market

Teva UK has announced the launch of a range of generic OTC products, which are available exclusively to pharmacy.

The company has launched an analgesic, gastrointestinal, cough and cold and allergy range to mark its entry into the sector, ahead of the launch of a women's health line early next year.

The range will be supported by a heavyweight, national press campaign, which will commence this autumn. OTC brand manager Ryan Ruscoe said
the launch of the range will also be supported by training packages for pharmacists and counter assistants.

He added that the decision to move into the OTC market was due to the UK government continuing to push self-care to patients. Mr Ruscoe said: "[The launch] is to keep ahead of the trends as the self-medication market seems more important.

"We are launching now as the cold and flu season will soon be upon us and we have a range of cold and flu products."
Teva commercial director Kim Innes said the company planned to generate increased sales in 2015, with generics commanding 70 per cent of its market.
