C+D scoops awards for investigations and pharmacy writing
Two members of C+D were recognised for championing the sector at the annual Avicenna awards for pharmacy journalism.
C+D’s deputy news editor Annabelle Collins was crowned Pharmacy Writer of the Year, with judges name-checking both her Brexit coverage and the letter she drafted about the funding pharmacy cuts for an MP to read out in parliament.
Deputy editor Lilian Anekwe picked up the Best Investigation award, for compiling more than 100 Freedom of Information requests to exclusively reveal how many clinical commissioning groups are scrapping repeat dispensing schemes to save cash.
C+D was the only title to scoop two trophies at the Avicenna Media Awards, held at the Ismali Centre in London last Friday (January 27).
This year’s awards – which annually hunts the very best writers in the pharmacy trade press – is the first of a series of events to be held this year to mark Avicenna’s 25th anniversary.
