Eplerenone heart tablets available
Actavis has launched eplerenone tablets for heart problems.
The aldosterone antagonist, which launched last month, could be used alongside beta blockers to reduce the risk of death from heart complications in patients with heart failure, the manufacturer said.
The manufacturer was “delighted” to add the tablets to its “growing product portfolio”, said Actavis UK managing director Jonathan Wilson. “With more than 5.5 billion tablets produced per year at
[our] manufacturing facility in north Devon, we are well equipped to support the supply chain demands of our customers,” he added.
The film-coated tablets are available in strengths of 25mg and 50mg and could also be used following a heart attack, Actavis said. Packs of 28 tablets of either strength cost £39.73, it added.
