Gaviscon targets indies with Xmas indigestion advice
Reckitt Benckiser (RB) is using independent pharmacies to deliver digestive health tips in the run-up to Christmas.
The tips, which promote RB’s Gaviscon range of indigestion and heartburn treatments, take the form of posters, tear-off slips and cards, the manufacturer said.
These point-of-sale items – being distributed to all independent pharmacies in the UK for free – encourage patients to share the tips with friends and family on Facebook, the manufacturer said. Customers who do so will be entered into a prize draw to win a meal at a Michelin star restaurant.
The company will also target consumer magazines with a PR campaign to “drive footfall” into pharmacies over the Christmas period, it added.
Gaviscon senior brand manager Anne Dawson said the tips will provide an opportunity for pharmacists to “start conversations with patients about their digestive health in a fun yet meaningful way”.
