A Lloydspharmacy dispensing service has "significantly" reduced patient waiting times at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, the Hospital has said. Lloydspharmacy has provided a dispensing service for the emergency department and outpatients since June and opened its on-site pharmacy officially on August 26. Although it was too early to give data on the service's impact, it had enabled the hospital to provide "a more personalised and quicker experience for patients", said Alison Hill, pharmacist at Royal Cornwall Hospital. As well as providing a better, faster service for outpatients, the Lloydspharmacy had freed up time for the hospital pharmacy to look after in-patients, said Martin Watts, chairman of the hospital NHS trust. "We have seen an immediate effect in the additional hospital resource we have been able to release, freeing up clinical pharmacists and technicians," Ms Hill told C+D. "[This] has significantly reduced our in-patient waiting times."  Lloydspharmacy said it was "looking forward" to the rest of its seven-year contract with the hospital. "Since we began operating in June, our pharmacy team has been working closely with colleagues at the hospital to provide a dedicated, efficient, high-quality service that has reduced waiting times for patients," said Lloydspharmacy's regional director Graeme Betts.
