RPS and C+D to crown Britain's favourite pharmacist
The I Love My Pharmacist competition will highlight readers' "fantastic stories of patient care" before a winner is announced in November
The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) has partnered with C+D for a competition to find the public's favourite pharmacist.
The second annual I Love My Pharmacist competition, which launched today (June 29), was designed to promote readers’ “fantastic stories of patient care” by encouraging the public to vote for their favourite pharmacist, the RPS said. The competition was open to pharmacists working in every sector, it stressed.
Pharmacists wishing to take part should visit the RPS’s website by July 28 and describe the biggest impact they and their team have had on patient care. C+D is the only official media partner of the competition.
A judging panel made up of pharmacists, C+D editor Jennifer Richardson and a patient representative will whittle down the entries to up to 18 finalists from six regions across Britain. The finalists will be featured on a dedicated website for the public to vote for their favourite in August and September, with one winner announced from each region.
The six regional winners will be invited to London to meet the judging panel, who will announce the national winner in November.
The RPS would promote the competition to the public through social media, local newspapers and radio, it said. It would also produce flyers and stickers that the competition’s regional finalists could use to encourage their patients to vote, it added.
RPS president Ash Soni said the organisation was “delighted” to be launching this year’s competition with C+D. “We know there are great stories out there and we would encourage as many pharmacists as possible to enter and get the recognition they and their teams deserve,” he added.
C+D editor Jennifer Richardson said: “C+D is always looking for ways to celebrate the achievements of grassroots pharmacists and pharmacy teams so we are very pleased to support this fantastic initiative, which encourages the public to recognise their work.”
Surrey contractor Reena Barai was voted the winner of last year’s I Love My Pharmacist competition by Women’s Weekly readers.
