How will I benefit?

 

This PSNC-endorsed course focuses on public health and covers the evidence behind the need for public health services and the practicalities of running public health-related services in the community pharmacy. It will give you a fundamental insight into the link between theory and practice and improve efficiency in your pharmacy.

●Apply knowledge of public health issues to everyday pharmacy practice
●Use as part of your CPD programme
●Five academic credits in the Medway Short Course Pathway

 

The course covers:

●Overview of public health
●Evidence base for interventions such as smoking cessation, alcohol and drug misuse programmes and exercise
●Behaviour change: Theory into practice
●The community pharmacist as public health practitioner
●Practical advice on running community pharmacy-based services to address addictions, obesity and cardiovascular disease

 

Face-to-face training packs are available to support this course.

Format

Skills for Public Health (part 1) is a distance learning course in conjunction with the Medway School of Pharmacy and is made up of 10 modules.

On successful completion of all the modules, the student will receive a Practice Certificate in Public Health.
