About this course

What do I need to do?

Well Being is a training course for pharmacy staff who work in pharmacies which are, or plan to be, engaged in the Health Living Pharmacy programme. Well Being consists of five modules, which will enable pharmacy staff to achieve one of two Royal Society for Public Health qualifications, depending on how many modules they complete.

Students who successfully complete Well Being modules 1 – 4 will be awarded the Royal Society for Public Health's Level 2 Award in Understanding Health Improvement. Completing this course will provide pharmacy staff with the knowledge and skills they need to provide health improvement advice and support to customers in the pharmacy as well as within the wider health community.

Students who also successfully complete Well Being Module 5 will be awarded the Royal Society for Public Health's Level 2 Award in Applied Health Improvement.

Course format

The Well Being programme can be delivered in one of two ways:

1.      For individuals, learning materials (knowledge) are supplied to students as a four module distance learning programme and the RSPH course assessment is completed online via the C+D website.

2.      For groups, learning materials (knowledge) are supplied to students as a four module distance learning programme. This is supplemented with a one day face to face training event, which includes soft skills training and a focus on local public health priorities. The RSPH course assessment can either be undertaken at the training event or online via the C+D website.

The RSPH course assessment is a 45 minute invigilated exam consisting of 30 multiple choice questions. This exam must be taken and passed for the student to successfully complete the course and achieve the RSPH Level 2 Award in Understanding Health Improvement.

Well Being modules 1 – 4 offer 7 guided learning hours, and should be completed within 4-6 weeks.

The face to face event (plus assessment, if required) should ideally come at the end of this period. Total programme duration six weeks.

NEW

The RSPH Level 2 Award in Applied Health Improvement (NVQ2) is also offered by C+D Training (Well Being module 5). This Award offers 22 hours learning.

Students who have achieved the Level 2 Award in Understanding Health Improvement who also successfully complete Well Being module 5 will achieve the RSPH Level 2 Award in Applied Health Improvement. This qualification is about putting the knowledge from the first four modules into practice. Module 5 is a workbook which contains practical activities and competence assessment. The workbook is submitted for assessment once all activities have been completed.
