Use C+D’s map to compare locum pharmacists’ average hourly rate, ability to find work and rate dissatisfaction levels in regions across Great Britain
The survey results suggest that locums in Scotland receive the highest hourly rate on average at £24.17, while London locums take home the lowest at £20.60.
Data from locum respondents based in Northern Ireland was factored into C+D’s calculations of the UK average hourly rate. However, C+D will not report specifically on locums in Northern Ireland this year as only six locums based in the region responded to the survey.
The rate for locums across the UK, including Northern Ireland, was £22.34 per hour on average, according to data collected through the C+D Salary Survey 2020. This was a 35p increase since the previous year up to the highest rate since 2012.
The C+D Salary Survey 2020 – the largest UK survey of community pharmacy – ran between October 19 and December 10 and was completed by a total of 1,667 pharmacists and pharmacy staff, including 188 locum pharmacists.
C+D will publish more findings on pay and working conditions in community pharmacy throughout February, which will be available on the C+D Salary Survey 2020 hub.
