Becoming a practice pharmacist was ‘shock to system’
For its latest podcast, C+D spoke to practice pharmacist Antonio Monachello to understand the challenges and rewards of the role.
Mr Monachello, superintendent pharmacist at the Charing Practice, said it was a “step into the unknown” when he left community pharmacy. But he stressed that the prescribing “opportunities are endless” and explained why the junior doctors’ strike means GPs are more receptive than ever to “passionate” pharmacists.
The roles are open to “absolutely anybody”, so pharmacists without primary care experience should not be deterred from applying, he adds.
