Mrs Creighton, 54, comes into the pharmacy and asks if she can have a private word with the pharmacist. You show her into the consultation room, and she sits down, looking a bit fed up.
“I think I’m going through menopause,” she says. “I’ve been sweating at night, even when it’s not warm out, and have hot flushes during the day.”
You ask how long this has been happening and she explains that these symptoms have been bothering her for the last six months.
She adds that she is anxious about having hot flushes in work and feels exhausted, because she hasn’t had much sleep “thanks to the night sweats”.
“I hope you don’t mind me asking, but do you know when your last period was?” you ask.
