Recognising symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease

C+D spoke to Mikin Patel, lead gastroenterology pharmacist at Imperial College NHS Trust, to learn more about the diagnosis and management of inflammatory bowel disease.

In C+D’s latest podcast, clinical editor Naimah Callachand, spoke to a C+D clinical advisory board member, Mikin Patel – lead pharmacist for gastroenterology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust – about how pharmacists can identify symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and recognise red flag symptoms in patients presenting in the pharmacy.

Mr Patel tells C+D that there has been a recent spike in hospital admissions for patients with inflammatory bowel disease and “it is not yet clear if there is a link between COVID-19 and IBD.”
