Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) can be overshadowed by its more prevalent relative osteoarthritis (OA), but to allow it to do so is paying a great disservice to the estimated 700,000 people in the UK who are affected by RA.
Unlike OA, which is generally regarded as the result of everyday wear and tear on the joints, RA is an autoimmune disorder and tends to affect smaller joints.
