I wonder if we can adopt principles from other countries, especially Australia and Czechoslovakia to curb the sales of other OTCs, such as codeine? In a past issue of CandD I wrote an article warning that the UK would get a wave of pseudo ephedrine abuse such as experienced in the Pacific Rim countries. I remember saying " ...after all what have UK pharmacists got that our colleagues overseas have not got. " From the subsequent non-arrival of methamphetamine abuse in the UK it would seem that the UK pharmacist and their team have got vigilance which prevented methamphetamine taking off here as it did in Australia and New Zealand as a result of lax supervision of pseudo ephedrine sales from pharmacies.

I wonder if Pharmacists are paid to perform this service around the world?
