1,400 'pressure stations' set up to support Blood Pressure Association's Know Your Numbers Week
More than 1,400 pharmacies, supermarkets, shopping centres, workplaces and community venues will set up blood pressure stations as part of the Blood Pressure Association's Know Your Numbers Week.One in three UK adults have high blood pressure, but Blood Pressure Association research found that almost three quarters of adults do not know their blood pressure. 121 Day Lewis pharmacies are taking part in the nation's biggest blood pressure testing event. Day Lewis Pharmacy superintendent pharmacist Peter Glover said: "This is a wonderful opportunity for people in the local community who may never have cause to visit their doctor to have their blood pressure checked quickly and conveniently.Whitworth Chemists is also taking part in the event with 18 pharmacies offering the free checks. Whitworth's superintendent pharmacist Jay Badenhurst said: “We will be offering free blood pressure checks in our partaking pharmacies. We want all local people (existing and new customers) to visit our pharmacies, have their blood pressure taken and get to know their numbers.”Blood Pressure Association executive director Mike Rich said: "We want everyone to lower their odds of stroke and heart attack by having a free blood pressure check during the week."Know your Numbers!
