Actavis has launched celecoxib capsules to treat arthritis following the expiry of the drug’s patent.

The analgesic, used to treat osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, came off patent on November 13 and Actavis launched strengths of 100mg and 200mg the next day.

The launch further strengthened the manufacturer’s range of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, the company said.

A pack of 60 100mg capsules and a pack of 30 200mg capsules both come at a price of £3.14.
