Actavis targets schizophrenia and bipolar disorder with launch
Manufacturer Actavis has launched a product to help treat symptoms of mental illness.
Aripiprazole, which launched last month, can be used to treat schizophrenia in patients aged over 15, as well as moderate and severe manic episodes of bipolar disorder, Actavis said.
The tablets are available in both conventional and orodispersible forms. Packs of 28 conventional tablets in strengths of 5mg, 10mg and 15mg are priced at £76.83, while a pack of 28 30mg tablets is £153.66. Packs of 28 10mg and 15mg orodispersible tablets both come at £96.04.
Actavis UK managing director Jonathan Wilson said expanding the company’s portfolio would “better cover pharmacists’ needs and save them both time and costs”.
