Boots partners with PHE on initiative targeting a million people

Boots has entered into a three-year partnership with Public Health England (PHE) to encourage one million people to take better care of their health.

Launching this month, the partnership kicks off with the launch of the Reboot quiz, an interactive online questionnaire available on Boots’ website. The multiple said the questionnaire uses “PHE’s evidence-based approach” to pose a series of health-related questions to customers.

The questions are designed to paint a picture of customers’ lifestyle habits across areas including smoking, eating and drinking, stress and exercise. After filling in the questionnaire, customers can opt to receive personalised service and product recommendations based on their answers.

Boots highlighted recent NHS Digital health statistics for England – including that more than half of adults are at high risk of chronic disease as a result of being overweight or obese, that 27% of adults are classified as physically inactive, and 28% have high blood pressure.

The multiple stressed “the importance of helping people find ways to improve their lifestyle” in addressing these issues

Boots UK managing director Sebastian James said that by joining forces with PHE, the multiple hopes to help a wide range of people.

“By combining our expertise and the huge number of people who shop with us with PHE’s expertise and knowledge, we think we can help millions of people become healthier and happier,” Mr James said.

PHE chief executive Duncan Selbie explained that he hoped the initiative would help reduce the burden of ill health on the NHS.

“Unhealthy lifestyles cost the NHS around £11 billion every year. We know that simple changes can lead to huge health benefits and this collaboration with Boots puts public health expertise in the hands of people looking to make a difference to their health,” Mr Selbie said.

Do you think this partnership will have a positive effect on public health?
