In a survey of 2,000 adults conducted this month, 53 per cent of respondents said they were more optimistic about achieving their goals in 2013 than they were last year, with a quarter citing Britain's performance in the Olympics as an inspiration.

Unsurprisingly, losing weight was the most popular health goal, cited by 55 per cent of respondents, while 43 per cent of smokers said they wanted to quit. And while 84 per cent of respondents felt they could make a difference to their own overall wellbeing, 59 per cent said expert advice and support was important in helping them achieve their goals. |
The results presented an opportunity for pharmacy to "play an even bigger role in supporting customers with their individual health needs", Boots said.
"Customers are entering 2013 with a new positive outlook towards their health and wellbeing, so there has never been a better time for pharmacists to take the lead and actively support customers," said Peter Bainbridge, director of pharmacy at Boots UK.
"Whether it's eating more healthily, quitting smoking or finally getting a good night's sleep, our pharmacists are well placed to have meaningful conversations that help customers to succeed with their health goals in 2013," he added.
