Boots president Simon Roberts will leave the health and beauty giant in July, it announced today (June 9).

Mr Roberts, who is also executive vice president of Boots parent company Walgreens Boots Alliance, has "decided at this time to pursue new opportunities", it said.

Elizabeth Fagan, currently senior vice president and managing director of international retail at Walgreens Boots Alliance, will become Boots' senior vice president and managing director.

Boots CEO Stefano Pessina said: “I would like to warmly thank Simon for his outstanding contribution and for the key role he played at Boots during the past 13 years of his career".

"We wish him the very best for the future," Mr Pessina added. "I also want to congratulate Elizabeth on her new position, where I am sure she will make a strong contribution.”

"Unrelated to MUR investigation"

C+D understands that Mr Roberts' decision was taken several months ago and he has been considering this for while.

It is thought that Mr Roberts' decision was unrelated to the Guardian investigation on MUR pressures.
