Burt resigns as pharmacy minister
Alistair Burt has made a surprise announcement in parliament that he will step down in September
Pharmacy minister Alistair Burt has made the surprise announcement that he will resign from his post.
Mr Burt announced in parliamentary health questions today (July 5) that he will step down in September, a month before the cuts to pharmacy funding in England are due to commence.
Mr Burt's resignation came a day after he took to Twitter to insist to C+D that the long-promised impact assessment of the cuts "is being done and will be done".
The DH was unable to comment about a potential successor.
This is getting (even more) crazy - @AlistairBurtMP announces he is stepping down as @DHgovuk minister in September

@CandDLilian @ChemistDruggist Screw it all up and leave. Is that all politicians do?! Realise their mistakes and get out to pass the problem
