The lobbying group has been transferring representative activities back to its constituent member associations – the National Pharmacy Association (NPA), the Association of Independent Multiple Pharmacies (AIMp) and the Company Chemists’ Association (CCA) – since the NPA announced it would end its funding at the end of 2017, Pharmacy Voice said.

“We can now confirm these processes will be complete by the end of March, and the Pharmacy Voice office will close at the end of April,” it said this morning (March 21).

“Subject to legal requirements and timings, the organisation will be formally wound-up over the summer,” it added.

The CCA, AIMp and the NPA will “continue to work together on key sector-wide work streams previously delivered by Pharmacy Voice”, it said. This includes Pharmacy Voice’s patient safety work and hosting of the medication safety officer group, which will both be taken on by the CCA.

The group’s “key stakeholders” have been informed of its plans to continue to deliver the Community Pharmacy Forward View, it said. “The transfer of representational responsibilities, including where Pharmacy Voice staff have held membership of key NHS and government groups and committees, has been initiated.”

Some Pharmacy Voice staff will be transferring to either the CCA or NPA respectively, it added. 

“Others are being made redundant as a result of the closure and will leave over the next few weeks.”
