Co-operative best for pay, worst for pressure
Salary Survey 2013 Co-op staff are satisfied with their salaries but management pressure is high, C+D has found
The Co-operative Pharmacy remains the best multiple for pay satisfaction but management pressure appears higher than at Boots or Lloydspharmacy, according to the C+D Salary Survey 2013.
More than eight in 10 Co-operative Pharmacy employees said they were fairly, very or more than satisfied with their salary, cementing the multiple's third year running as the best for pay satisfaction.
This didn't appear to translate to job satisfaction, however, as Co-operative employees responding to the survey were more likely to suffer from management pressure and job fears. The Co-operative Pharmacy said its 59 employees responding to the survey did not give a "full or fair" picture of the company.

Nearly half of Co-operative Pharmacy respondents said they had faced intimidation from management in the past year – double the rate at Boots and Lloydspharmacy – and a fifth said they were subject to bullying. |
Employees also tended to feel less secure in their jobs. Just under half of those working at the Co-operative Pharmacy said their jobs were either a little or a lot less secure than last year, compared to 44 per cent at Lloydspharmacy and 37 per cent at Boots.
Janet McNally, head of HR at the Co-operative Pharmacy, said the respondents represented less than 1 per cent of its total workforce. She said the multiple's annual engagement survey, which surveyed more than 5,000 employees, revealed a "high overall satisfaction score" with its pay and support levels.
