Andre Yeung, chair of the Northumberland, Tyne and Wear local professional network (LPN), will be answering pharmacists' queries on the new national Community Pharmacist Consultation Service (CPCS) live on C+D’s Facebook page tonight (December 10) from 7-8pm.

Pharmacists can watch the live webinar from 7pm and get answers to their burning queries on the CPCS by posting them in the comment box below the video stream. C+D’s digital reporter Eliza Slawther will be putting these – and other questions that have been submitted in advance – to Mr Yeung live during the hour.

Since its launch on October 29, more than 10,000 pharmacies in England have signed up to provide the CPCS, which sees them receive £14 for each consultation they complete following an NHS 111 referral for minor illnesses and urgent medicines supply.

Mr Yeung was project manager of the Digital Minor Illness Referral Service (DMIRS) pilot in 2018, which inspired the new national advanced service in England.

Having successfully led the C+D Award-winning Community Pharmacy Referral Service (CPRS) and advised hundreds of pharmacies on the DMIRS, Mr Yeung has vast experience of the type of queries pharmacists will typically receive, the range of patients they will see and the possible challenges that might crop up through the referral scheme.

Commenting ahead of the live Q&A session, Mr Yeung said: “The CPCS is really important for community pharmacy. I believe it opens a door to a whole new world of integrated NHS clinical services provided by community pharmacists.

“I wanted to offer an opportunity for pharmacists to ask me questions, as I thought this may be useful after a month of providing the service,” he added.
