First Well pharmacies open in north west

The Well Pharmacy at Barlow Moor Road in Chorlton, Manchester was unveiled on May 22

The first former Co-operative Pharmacy branches have been opened under their new brand, with the remainder to be relaunched by autumn

Two former Co-operative Pharmacy branches have become the first to relaunch under the Well brand.

The pharmacies in Chester and Chorlton in Manchester reopened last week (May 22) as part of a £200 million five-year investment by owner Bestway. The company, which brought the pharmacy business for £620 million last summer, said it expected all 780 branches to be rebranded by the autumn.

Well CEO John Nuttall said there had been a “lot of hard work behind the scenes” before the first Well pharmacies could be unveiled.

“It’s a very exciting time for us as we rollout the new brand name on high-streets across the UK over the next few weeks and months,” Mr Nuttall added.

The Well pharmacies were opened by actors from soaps Coronation Street and Hollyoaks, who received a "Well check-up" from a branch pharmacist, the multiple said. They were joined by “local heroes” who had contributed to the health of their communities, it added.

In March, Bestway announced that it had bought a small pharmacy chain in South Devon, as part of its plans to expand its portfolio of branches.

May be these branches are not doing so well for WELL ??? So they might have dumped these branches in a well where there are loads of people are waiting to get on to the Ownership Ladder !!!
