Two former Co-operative Pharmacy branches have become the first to relaunch under the Well brand.
The pharmacies in Chester and Chorlton in Manchester reopened last week (May 22) as part of a £200 million five-year investment by owner Bestway. The company, which brought the pharmacy business for £620 million last summer, said it expected all 780 branches to be rebranded by the autumn.
Well CEO John Nuttall said there had been a “lot of hard work behind the scenes” before the first Well pharmacies could be unveiled.
“It’s a very exciting time for us as we rollout the new brand name on high-streets across the UK over the next few weeks and months,” Mr Nuttall added.
The Well pharmacies were opened by actors from soaps Coronation Street and Hollyoaks, who received a "Well check-up" from a branch pharmacist, the multiple said. They were joined by “local heroes” who had contributed to the health of their communities, it added.
In March, Bestway announced that it had bought a small pharmacy chain in South Devon, as part of its plans to expand its portfolio of branches.
