Half of readers will recommend first licensed e-cigarette
Fifty-five per cent of 119 respondents to a C+D poll said the MHRA's decision to license a device gives them an "e-cigarette I feel comfortable recommending”

More than half of pharmacists will change the advice they give to patients once the first licensed e-cigarette hits the market, a C+D poll has suggested.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) told C+D earlier this month that it had licensed the e-Voke device – produced by British American Tobacco – in November because it is a “product of acceptable quality and an effective aid to smoking cessation”.
Although the product is not yet available to patients, 55% of 119 respondents to a C+D poll said the licensing will affect the advice they give, because there will be an “e-cigarette on the market that I feel comfortable recommending”.
Twenty-five per cent of respondents to the poll – which ran from December 9-15 – said they will never recommend an e-cigarette, even if it is licensed. The remaining 20% said the MHRA’s decision would not affect them because they already recommend the devices.
Would you feel comfortable recommending a licensed e-cigarette?
