GSK supports pharmacy’s role in self-care by maintaining OTC supply
GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is supporting the role of pharmacy teams in patient self-care by maintaining the stock of its OTC products and offering resources.
GSK has taken steps to ease the pressure on pharmacy teams to provide self-care advice and products to patients, which intensified following the outbreak of COVID-19, it said last week (October 1).
GSK prioritised supply of its over-the-counter (OTC) treatments for cough, cold, flu, allergy, and pain as well as its multi-vitamin supplements, it said.
The manufacturer will also expand its healthcare professional training on delivering consultations, it said.
“We expect consumer attitudes and behaviours to significantly shift as a result of the pandemic, the role of self-care will be a huge part of the ‘new normal’,” GSK said.
“We are embarking on a long-term self-care movement, with the aim of sustaining a shift in the behaviours of the nation – getting people to think of their pharmacist first.”
Pharmacy teams can order toolkits, training and products via the GSK Health Partner Portal
