Hemant Patel retires as NEL LPC secretary after 26 years
Hemant Patel has retired from his post as NEL LPC secretary after more than 25 years following a "long period of illness and reaching his retirement age", the LPC has confirmed.
Mr Patel retired on May 18 after 26 years as north-east London local pharmaceutical committee (NEL LPC) secretary, the LPC told contractors in an email on Wednesday (May 26).
During his time as secretary, the LPC "made considerable progress on the development of community pharmacy services", NEL LPC said in the email.
During his tenure, Mr Patel has been a "leading figure" at the LPC in "supporting contractors to find new ways of working, leading to greater opportunities to develop their role in services", including smoking cessation, sexual health services and mental health support, NEL LPC said.
"We wish him well"
NEL LPC chair Surinder Singh Kalsi thanked Mr Patel for his "service and dedication to the cause of community pharmacy".
“We wish him well for a long, healthy and happy retirement,” he added.
Mr Patel said: "It was a privilege to serve the pharmacy contractors, their pharmacists and employees in north-east London. I wish them all success and enjoyment from their work to heal and improve the health of the people of north-east London."
