High demand puts antibiotic Vibramycin-D in short supply
Unexplained high demand for the antibiotic Vibramycin-D (doxycycline monohydrate) has sparked a temporary supply shortage, Pfizer announced last week (May 2).
Pfizer said it has about six weeks' supply of dispersible 100mg x 8 tablets and is working with its manufacturing site to resume normal supplies. However, it was unable to confirm a date for return of stock.
Pharmacies with supply queries should contact Pfizer's customer contact centre on 0845 608 8866 and the medical information department can be contacted on 01304 616161 for medical queries.
Pfizer said it was unaware of any particular reason for an increase in demand for Vibramycin-D.
