Independent group buys three ‘flagship’ branches from Lloydspharmacy

Imaan Healthcare has bought three further branches from Lloydspharmacy, it has confirmed to C+D.

C+D reported in May that the independent group bought 18 branches from Lloydspharmacy – part of the 190 “commercially unviable” branches where the multiple announced in October 2017 it would cease trading.

Imaan Healthcare told C+D last week (June 4) that it is not aware that the three “quite large” branches – which were not included among the 18 C+D originally reported on – are part of these 190 Lloydspharmacies.

However, Lloydspharmacy has since confirmed to C+D that the branches are included in its list of 190.

The independent group’s marketing consultant Paalan Sood said these three “flagship” stores – listed below – are bigger than the 18 others it had previously purchased from the multiple.

The three new Lloydspharmacy branches acquired by Imaan Healthcare are:

  • 13-17 Peel Street, Accrington, BB5 1EA
  • 72-74 Milton Road, Stoke, ST1 6HD
  • 3-7 Alderson Road, Sheffield, S2 4UA.

Head of operations Saghir Ahmed said the three acquisitions would be “service-orientated pharmacies”, with Imaan Healthcare investing in “diabetes services, as well as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease monitoring and asthma”.

“We want to cut out layers of management and provide great services,” he added.

All the Lloydspharmacy staff at the three branches have been retained, Mr Ahmed confirmed.

Where else is Lloydspharmacy ceasing trading?

C+D has now confirmed the location of 76 of the 190 branches where Lloydspharmacy has ceased trading. The multiple declined to confirm the location of the remaining 114 branches.

You can use C+D's map to view the location of each of the 76 Lloydspharmacy branches so far confirmed for closure or sale.

Branches confirmed for closure are marked in purple, while those up for sale are marked in blue. Branches that have already been sold are marked in orange.

This map is live, and will be updated as C+D confirms the locations of further affected Lloydspharmacy branches.
