Pharmacists in England and Wales are now able to access their information governance toolkits for 2011-12. While England's toolkit will include an additional business continuity requirement this year, Wales will see no changes to its information governance questions.

But NHS Wales has sent an updated user guide to contractors, which gives additional information for this year. It also explains "minor changes" to the format view and submission button, which were made as a result of contractor feedback.

There will be an "action required" sheet to "aid step-by-step completion", NHS Wales reported.

Pharmacists in England and Wales must submit their information governance assurances before March 31, 2012.

This year, PSNC reported that the "overwhelming majority" of pharmacists had completed their IG requirements on time, with 10, 094 pharmacies submitting their assessments on the online toolkit. And Wales reported similar success, as 95 per cent of pharmacies completed their requirements before the deadline.
