Join C+D's webinar tomorrow to discuss progress on racism in pharmacy
Tomorrow (July 15) C+D will host its second annual racism in pharmacy webinar, to discuss what has changed in the past 12 months and what more needs to be done.
In 2020, racial inequality was brought to the fore. As Black Lives Matter protests swept across the globe, a C+D survey revealed some shocking statistics about pharmacy professionals’ experience of racism.
However, results from this year’s racism in pharmacy survey suggest not much has changed over the past 12 months.
On Monday, C+D revealed that more than two thirds of Pakistani pharmacy workers have experienced racial abuse from a colleague in the past six months. Meanwhile, 63% of respondents said they have suffered racial abuse at least once from patients during the same period.
Tomorrow’s webinar will discuss what these statistics mean for pharmacy workers across the UK, and C+D will be revealing more stats and comments from this year’s survey.
Chaired by C+D’s clinical and custom content editor Naimah Callachand, the webinar's panel will feature:
- Amandeep Doll, head of professional belonging, Royal Pharmaceutical Society
- Elsy Campos, founder and president of UK Black Pharmacist Association
- Noel Kizere, clinical pharmacist, NHS Trust
- Mahendra Patel, pharmacy and ethnic minority communities research lead, Principle Trial, University of Oxford
- Janice Perkins, chair of the Community Pharmacy Patient Safety Group
- Roisin O'Hare, lead teacher practitioner pharmacist, Northern Ireland Universities Network
The panel will examine what – if anything – has changed over the past year and what needs to happen next to really make a difference for pharmacy professionals experiencing racism.
