Manufacturer Lincoln Medical has launched a new acute diarrhoea treatment for children.

Hidrasec, which launched this month, can be used alongside oral rehydration salts for the symptomatic treatment of the condition in children aged three months and over, the manufacturer said.

The prescription-only product shortens episodes of diarrhoea and reduces stool quantity and frequency, as well as dehydration, it claimed.

The launch is being supported by a new website, hidrasec.eu, which includes information for healthcare professionals.

Hidrasec is available as 10mg or 30mg granules for oral suspension. A pack of 20 in either strength has an NHS list price of £8.42.
