Lloydspharmacy parent company changes name to reflect US owners
Lloydspharmacy’s parent company has changed its name to reflect its American owners.
As of today (November 26), Celesio UK will be called McKesson UK, it announced.
Despite US wholesaling and healthcare technology giant McKesson having taken over Celesio in 2014, the latter company has continued to operate under its existing name until now.
McKesson UK CEO Toby Anderson, who joined the business as Celesio UK CEO in May, said: “We have been part of the McKesson family for over four years now.
“In the UK, we have to be prepared to meet the evolving needs of patients and care delivery – and now seemed an appropriate time to move to our new brand.
“The McKesson name is one that resonates particularly with pharmaceutical manufacturers and other strategic partners that we work with,” he added
The Lloydspharmacy and AAH Pharmaceuticals brand names will not change, McKesson UK stressed.
