Crime 30-year-old Christopher McGuire will appear at West London Magistrates Court today charged with contamination of goods
Christopher McGuire, 30, will appear at West London Magistrates Court today, following a police investigation into antidepressant and antiepileptic drugs were found in packs of Nurofen Plus.
Mr McGuire, of no fixed abode, has been charged with four counts of contaminating or interfering with goods with intent and two counts of administering a poison with intent to aggrieve, injure or annoy.
Police have been investigating the cause of the presence of prescription-only medicines Seroquel XL 50mg in four Nurofen Plus packets sold from London pharmacies and Neurontin 100mg capsules in a packet sold in Northern Ireland, last month.
Pharmacists were required to send back all stock and provide refunds to customers returning pharmacy-only product Nurofen Plus, as part of a recall. Distribution was halted by Reckitt Benckiser.
Investigators had pledged to explore "all avenues", including distribution, when the investigation was launched in August.
