C+D readers will be able to choose the winners of two brand new COVID Hero categories live at this week’s C+D Awards 2020.

Those attending the C+D Awards’ digital ceremony on Thursday evening (November 26) will be able to vote for their favourite out of 20 finalists across the Outstanding Individual and Outstanding Team categories live on the night.

Attendees will be able to read up on the reasons why each finalist was shortlisted and decide on their winner. The finalists with the most votes in each category at the end of the evening will be crowned the winners.

C+D decided to add the two new categories to honour community pharmacy’s outstanding contribution to the COVID-19 pandemic.

C+D editor Beth Kennedy said: “Although there will only be one winner in each COVID Hero category at this year’s awards, it’s very clear to me that work of everyone in community pharmacy during the pandemic has been nothing short of heroic.

“Congratulations and good luck to all of our COVID Hero finalists. Your stories have truly been an inspiration and I’m sure readers will have difficulty in selecting their winners.”

The awards, this year held as a virtual ceremony for the first time in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic will take place on the recently launched C+D Community.

The event, hosted by celebrated comedian Stephan Mangan, will recognise and celebrate the accomplishments of the finalists and winners across the 16 categories in this year’s awards.

The ceremony will be free to attend, with guests needing to register in advance to receive their link to access the event.
